USING THE GRAPHS
The two available graphs (gears and dyno) serve as visual cues. The gears graph puts your gear ratios as a relationship between engine RPM and car speed. You typically want this graph to show gradually reducing lines, with bottom points of each line forming a parabola. Take a look at stock sports cars for a good reference point.
The dyno graph shows smoothed-out torque and power graphs. Naturally, you want to be racing in the maximum torque band, and looking at these graphs will help you figure out the best shift points. Most cars have a higher torque in the second half of the band, and shifting close to redline is a good rule of thumb, but radical upgrades (particularly big turbos) can produce varying results.

ENGINE REDLINE / SPEED LIMITER
Besides gear tuning, Nitro Nation allows you to raise the engine speed limiter by up to 20% of stock settings. Having a wider rev range can give some cars more breathing space, but there is a progressive risk of blowing the engine and getting disqualified when operating beyond the stock limit.
Keep in mind that ESL isn’t just a “more power!” slider. It’s an advanced setting that provides little benefit unless you know precisely why you need these extra revs in the first place. We recommend mastering the gear tuning before touching the ESL to avoid the frustration and making things more complicated than they should be.

WRAP-UP
Tuning is not an easy task. It requires a fundamental understanding of car physics, practical experience, precision, and a whole lot of patience. It’s not supposed to be accessible or approachable. No single help article can cover all the nuances and substitute for practice. Thankfully, Nitro Nation players have created plenty of educational videos and shared configs for most cars which you can find on YouTube and on our community pages.
